Evaluation 1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Evaluation 1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? I was originally influenced by music videos which show their narrative through the use of filters which alter itself from the original filter to tell different stories through the way the audience view the video, changing the prospective to connote the viewpoint has changed, this is significant in showing narrative development without the use of sound, through visually explaining whats going on. I decided to use this method whilst visually describing the story for two reasons; enhancing the dramatic view i intend to create and to successfully get across a dramatic change in the story. I did this in my music video by having clips' colours and filters unaltered, and other clips taking away all the colour and leaving everything in black and white. I did this to signify two things; past and atmosphere. When an audience sees a video completely in black and white...

Evaluation 2: How effective is the combinations of your main product and ancillary texts?

Evaluation 2: How effective is the combinations of your main product and ancillary texts? Overall, i think all the texts i produced under my music video synergies well altogether. The music video is a foundation of atmosphere and narrative which the ancillary being the poster and CD cover builds from. The music video clearly shows dark and depression at the start through what is shown, such as the use of colours being black and white throughout until the character leaves everything behind, and that point through the change of colour is incredibly significant which is also picked up by the audience through feedback so i decided to create the most significant point of the video to be what represents the music vide as a whole. This being through the poster, the poster represents the character's escapism and how he is trapped but can see the light through on the other side, this is completely captured through the problems covering the doorway although through the doorway is his fre...

Evaluation 3: What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Evaluation 3: What have you learned from your audience feedback? From my audience feedback, i learned a great many things such as the use of shaky cam in shots, the use of dogs in the music video and animation of my pieces of paper which grow in my music video. Firstly, i was told that the use of shaky cam in one of my first shots in the music video was very effective with the colour correction as it gave a disorientated erie effect which set the mood for the music video, this shot lasts a few seconds which features the view from a window on the 1st floor of a house looking down onto the road and trees, not only did it set the atmosphere for the rest of the music video but it gave it symbolic connotations of the character being trapped and looking out onto the road and trees for freedom, the shaky cam being their POV and the window veil being what is between the character and their freedom, they just need to lift it and go through. My second piece of feedback was on the use of my...

Evaluation 4: How did you use technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluations stages?

Evaluation 4: How did you use technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluations stages? In creating my Music video, I used three major editing softwares, that being Adobe Premiere, AfterEffects and PhotoShop. Once i had knew what i was going to film and what is was going to be about i used Microsoft Word to note down everything i had in mind so that i didn't lose it all throughout the construction process, i made a whole 2 pages filled with the ideas of what i was going to film, the narrative, what i would have in shots, what shots i was planning, when i was going to film and who i would be filming with, this word document was my hub for everything music video, although for my shot-list, i needed something a bit more grid like, so i used Microsoft Excel. Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet based programme which came incredibly useful for my shot-list, this being a long list of all my intended shots for my music video, with a number of how many shots i originally...

16th March 2018 - Editing the Poster

Introduction On this page i will go through how i created my poster and why. I knew that my poster will have to feature the narrative of my music video in the best possible appealing way. I came up with some ideas like have a photo of the wall covered in pieces of paper with the album name written on a piece of paper and the track-list and the artist, although i didn't think that it looked appealing, i also considered a photo from the view of Castle Hill although all the shots i had did not look too professional and made the poster look rushed, as well as some were blurry. I decided that i wanted a mixture of both. I plastered pieces of paper with problems written on around a door just like in my music video and with the track list written on the pieces to the right of the door, i then held a green screen within the doorway so that i could edit the other side of the door out. Although the track-list was lost will all the other writing on the paper, I then turned each piece of...

16th March 2018 - Editing the Album Cover

Introduction On this page i will explain how i edited my album cover for 'Heroes' First of all i took photos which related to my music video which would look good for my cover art. I got a range of potential photos of different angles of pieces of paper on the wall, different shots from outside but narrowed it all down to the best. I used Photoshop on the chosen photos and added in things like Barcodes to one cover, the record label Parlophone Records to another and a track-list full of made up songs for the album, number one being the song for my music video. I enhanced each shot with altering the colour and brightness to make it look more attractive. The front cover was also edited with photoshop although the name of the song was written down on paper. I decided to do this as it strongly directly links the album cover to the music video showing the title written down like all the problems the character faces on the pieces of paper, i made the rest of the pieces plain so...

26th March 2018 - Music Video Editing

Introduction On this page i will explain how i edited my video and what softwares i used. Firstly, i filmed the clips used a Canon camera, i then imported the footage into a mac at school and used Adobe After Effects to alter the clips i made with colour correction, i then imported the edited clips into Adobe Premiere where i patched all the clips together with the music, edited the clips in time with the music, edited the transitions with altering opacity and exporting to youtube.

January 22nd 2018 - Editing my video

Introduction On this page i will show how i edited certain parts of my videos and why. 1. Firstly, here i added all my videos into Adobe Premiere, including my music. This would be my resource bar for everything i had filmed, so that when editing i can constantly go back on. 2. The shots i had of the stop-motion animation of the pieces of paper were all edited on Premiere. When filming, i filmed around 5 seconds of each new shot, that being placing a new piece of paper. I would then go on Premiere and import all the clips, cut them down so that they are only around 1-3 seconds and then edit them in, so that when i had a lot of them altogether, the camera would stay at the same shot but suddenly all these bits of paper would magically appear.  3. Here i am editing the opacity of the video at the end so that it fades out. I edited the last clip and selected the brightness tool and then the opacity, i selected where i wanted it to start at 100% and then when i wante...
