January 22nd 2018 - Editing my video

Introduction

On this page i will show how i edited certain parts of my videos and why.

1. Firstly, here i added all my videos into Adobe Premiere, including my music. This would be my resource bar for everything i had filmed, so that when editing i can constantly go back on.

2. The shots i had of the stop-motion animation of the pieces of paper were all edited on Premiere. When filming, i filmed around 5 seconds of each new shot, that being placing a new piece of paper. I would then go on Premiere and import all the clips, cut them down so that they are only around 1-3 seconds and then edit them in, so that when i had a lot of them altogether, the camera would stay at the same shot but suddenly all these bits of paper would magically appear.

3. Here i am editing the opacity of the video at the end so that it fades out. I edited the last clip and selected the brightness tool and then the opacity, i selected where i wanted it to start at 100% and then when i wanted it to fall to 0% opacity. It then at the point of 100% grew dark and faded to complete blackness by 0%, this was successful as the end of the song ends softly which completely suits the transition.
4. Here i am using Adobe AfterEffects. This programme allows you to edit a video in thousands of different ways. In my music video i only used it for colour correction.

5. I used two types of colour correction; Tint, and Curves. Tint makes the clip black and white, and Curves edits both of the contrast and the brightness at the same time, resulting in which areas of the clip you want more dark or more light, a great way of showing significance of objects which i used for the pieces of paper.

6. Most of my clips were set to be black and white to represent the future and past, this meant that i spent a lot of time editing the colour for the clips to be just perfect.

7. The use of Tint

8. The dramatic change when using Curves

9. As mentioned before, i did this for almost every shot to really create a strong successful dark atmosphere through what the audience saw.
