11th September 2017 - Creating the Narrative

Introduction

The narrative of my music video is of a man and a man's best friend leaving all their problems behind and going on an adventure to get away from everything. To achieve this sense of narrative i will need to show this clearly through the shots i use.

Plan

At the start, i intend to have shots of the character getting up and getting ready to leave. There at the moment is no clear reason for why this is happening. To get the idea to the audience about the start i am planning i decided it would be great to show the problem through everything. When filming, i intend to have sticky notes, or bits of paper everywhere which shouts the problems, such as bills, tax, unemployment, any sort of problem that the average adult would face. When it comes to filming shots, i will either get a load of paper with a marker and simply write the problem on it, and then tape the paper to completely cover every item that the character doesn't use. For example, i will have my character go through cupboards, make a cup of tea and get clothes, this would involve him going through a cupboard, going through tins and a wardrobe, i intend to have every part of the cupboard, tins and wardrobe completely covered in the pieces of paper with the problems written on them. This strongly connotes towards the character never getting away from these problems, wherever he goes and everything his does, he's always reminded, furthermore it shouts the origins of the narrative at the audience which is incredibly clear to pick up. I will carefully plan my shots to only show for example, the cupboard and parts of the wall the cupboard is on in which the pieces of paper with the problems written on would completely cover the wall and cupboard door and sides.

The pieces of paper would not all be unique problems. I intend to use around 5 money problems in which i will use over and over again on the bits of paper for repetition, the more the audience looks around the more pieces they see and recognise the repetition which would connote to it's significance which is why they are popping up so much.
